Please tell us about your tech community, its members and objectives.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"eplus-6trr3q\">FemDevs is a Spanish-speaking, women-only <span id=\"urn:enhancement-862cf816\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\" itemid=\"http:\/\/data.wordlift.io\/wl01770\/entity\/nonprofit_organization\">non-profit<\/span> centered in promoting the interest, participation and presence of women in <span id=\"urn:enhancement-6d9723f1\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\" itemid=\"http:\/\/data.wordlift.io\/wl01770\/entity\/video_game_development\">game development<\/span> culture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"eplus-NoRysp\">Our main goals are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"eplus-IWC8OB wp-block-list\">\n<li>Promote <a href=\"https:\/\/www.codemotion.com\/magazine\/articles\/stories\/is-there-a-glass-ceiling-for-women-in-tech\/\" class=\"ek-link\">equal opportunities for women<\/a>, independently of their ethnicity, sexual orientation and\/or religion in the culture and professions related to the development of videogames, including this way every aspect of it, be it at an amateur, hobbyist or professional level<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Encourage women&#8217;s participation and presence in the cultures and professions object of the association. By organising women-only events and workshops we not just only give them a space to be, but a space to get to know each other and build nurturing nets of people who essentially help each other take space of their own<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Look after women&#8217;s individual and collective well being in the tech scene. Building and provide safe spaces to share experiences, concerns, points of view and opportunities is fundamental to create a sense of community and belonging<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading eplus-ab2WKI\" id=\"h-being-a-tech-community-manager\">Being a Tech Community Manager<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"eplus-6ZMVFS\"><strong>What is it like being a tech <span id=\"urn:enhancement-c1421178\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\" itemid=\"http:\/\/data.wordlift.io\/wl01770\/entity\/community\">community<\/span> manager in your country? What is the tech scene in your country?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"eplus-eFdHBO\">In <span id=\"urn:enhancement-1d0bbd14\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\" itemid=\"http:\/\/data.wordlift.io\/wl01770\/entity\/spain\">Spain<\/span> we&#8217;re lucky that women have some sort of class consciousness, so even though tech culture is kind of cemented in neoliberalism, women know that they need to stick together and get involved in collective efforts in order to achieve some sort of improvement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"eplus-x437VC\"><strong>What were the biggest problems you&#8217;ve had to overcome and how have you done this?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"eplus-EZgNKN\">Tech <span id=\"urn:enhancement-374b191f\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\" itemid=\"http:\/\/data.wordlift.io\/wl01770\/entity\/community\">communities<\/span> usually have to overcome either being target or witness of abuse and\/or <span id=\"urn:enhancement-3a02dcc9\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\" itemid=\"http:\/\/data.wordlift.io\/wl01770\/entity\/harassment\">harassment<\/span>. That&#8217;s always big and there aren&#8217;t enough <span id=\"urn:enhancement-cc6c92b6\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\" itemid=\"http:\/\/data.wordlift.io\/wl01770\/entity\/tool\">tools<\/span> out there for us to overcome that easily.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"eplus-Y4TMDR\">All we can offer is contact with lawyers and psychologists who can help navigate that loss, either by holding accountable those who did the hurting or helping the victim feel less of a victim.<br>Our role in most cases is to be the net that connects one another, our <span id=\"urn:enhancement-6de8fd7\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\" itemid=\"http:\/\/data.wordlift.io\/wl01770\/entity\/community\">community<\/span> work is centered on building bridges to better situations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading eplus-0Fh9Yn\" id=\"h-diversity-in-tech-communities\">Diversity in Tech Communities<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"eplus-S1AsQF\"><strong>Do you encourage Diversity in your <span id=\"urn:enhancement-481b66da\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\" itemid=\"http:\/\/data.wordlift.io\/wl01770\/entity\/high_tech\">tech<\/span> <span id=\"urn:enhancement-18eeeb6e\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\" itemid=\"http:\/\/data.wordlift.io\/wl01770\/entity\/community\">community<\/span>, and during your <a href=\"https:\/\/www.codemotion.com\/magazine\/dev-hub\/community-manager\/how-to-run-tech-meetup\/\" class=\"ek-link\">meetups<\/a>? And that&#8217;s why we had to <span id=\"urn:enhancement-1f041a17\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\" itemid=\"http:\/\/data.wordlift.io\/wl01770\/entity\/writing\">write<\/span> a Code of Conduct, which is essential in our activities to a point where we can&#8217;t take part in any activity that hasn&#8217;t accepted its terms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading eplus-0w56wu\" id=\"h-why-and-how-to-become-a-community-manager\">Why and how to become a Community Manager<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"eplus-KIbAIz\"><strong>Why did you decide to become a <span id=\"urn:enhancement-783e3818\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\" itemid=\"http:\/\/data.wordlift.io\/wl01770\/entity\/community\">community<\/span> <span id=\"urn:enhancement-ad1e0abd\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\" itemid=\"http:\/\/data.wordlift.io\/wl01770\/entity\/talent_manager\">manager<\/span>, and what is the most valuable thing you got in return? I usually have the <span id=\"urn:enhancement-f9101af3\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\" itemid=\"http:\/\/data.wordlift.io\/wl01770\/entity\/initiative\">initiative<\/span> to start and keep things going which is something not everyone has the will nor time to. I started getting more and more involved and here we are now.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"eplus-w6LbVK\">I&#8217;ve had many issues balancing work and life with <span id=\"urn:enhancement-e5009a40\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\" itemid=\"http:\/\/data.wordlift.io\/wl01770\/entity\/activism\">activism<\/span>. Any <span id=\"urn:enhancement-5e18bab2\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\" itemid=\"http:\/\/data.wordlift.io\/wl01770\/entity\/activism\">activist<\/span> has. It feels more like juggling to me, since everytime you lose one of the three, everything falls apart. And, well, for me personal is political and vice versa, so there&#8217;s not much separation between one another.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"eplus-shcoGA\"><strong>What <span id=\"urn:enhancement-602b1f2\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\" itemid=\"http:\/\/data.wordlift.io\/wl01770\/entity\/skill\">skills<\/span> and <span id=\"urn:enhancement-f5fd7fd4\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\" itemid=\"http:\/\/data.wordlift.io\/wl01770\/entity\/experience\">experience<\/span> does a tech <span id=\"urn:enhancement-282d1419\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\" itemid=\"http:\/\/data.wordlift.io\/wl01770\/entity\/community\">community<\/span> <span id=\"urn:enhancement-5fc97b87\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-thing\" itemid=\"http:\/\/data.wordlift.io\/wl01770\/entity\/talent_manager\">manager<\/span> need? If you care, you act as such. That&#8217;s it.
